Automations

An automation is one RCON command with a trigger. Aquilon runs it for you and shows when it last ran.

Two triggers

  • At a time. A time of day in UTC and the weekdays it applies to. None selected means every day. The command runs once in that minute on each server it targets.
  • On a phase change. When a server becomes empty (nobody on), seeding (below the threshold you set on the Reserved slots page, 40 by default) or live (at or above it). A phase has to hold for a minute before it counts, so a population that wobbles around the line does not fire twice.

What it can do

Set the next layer, change the layer now, broadcast a message, restart the match, set the player cap, set the number of reserved slots, set or clear the server password. A raw RCON command is available to the roles your organisation allows in Settings → Security, the same list that gates the console.

Each automation targets one server or all of them. Run now sends the command immediately, ignoring the trigger — the way to check a layer name before trusting it to 06:00.

The usual first two

  1. Seeding layer at dawn — at 05:30 every day, set the next layer to your seed layer. The morning restart then comes up on a map people will seed.
  2. Back to the rotation — when the server becomes live, set the next layer to the first map of your normal rotation.

Add a nightly Restart the match at 04:00 on the day you patch, and an evening Set reserved slots to 8 on weekends when the regulars queue.

Where it lives

Broadcasts and automations share one page. Scheduled broadcasts are for saying something every few minutes while a player-count window holds; automations are for doing something at a moment. Every run is written to the audit log with what ran where.
